Nori's face burned, the sensation spreading to his ears, the back of his neck. He watched Ayame fall into the pool, wide-eyed, but couldn't bring himself to move, try and help her. That was real... In front of everyone, Ayame had just...
He clapped one hand over his mouth. His stomach felt hollow, yet so, so sick, pulling in on itself and squeezing.
"I, ah..." He couldn't force his voice above a murmur. "I have to go to the washroom. I'm sorry." He turned on his heel, heading away from the pool.

"Senpai!" Ché called after Nori, raising a hand and attempting to go after him. What had happened? Ayame had gone behind Nori, said something and then something had made him round on her and push her in the pool! Crystal had tried to help but he just... stood there, surprised. Nori's face seemed so pale and he looked ... It hadn't been nothing. Something had happened. Something... not good. And then Ayame just crawled out and acted like nothing had happened, suddenly being all nice and sunshine to him while Nori ran off. It made him feel uncomfortable and all the rumors about her being... handsy, suddenly sprang to mind. When she held out his jammers for him he gingerly took them, staying quite a bit away while he took them quickly then backed off just as fast. The wink did nothing to steady his nerves and he coughed, looking away. "I'm just gonna... yeah." He turned on Ayame and Crystal and hurried to the boys' washroom quickly. Once he was inside he stopped for a minute then closed the door behind him, "Senpai? Are you alright?"

Crystal felt her stomach turn seeing that Ayame had a hard time swimming. She hadn't realized that Ayame couldn't swim. She moved to help her teacher up but watched as Ayame got out all on her own and acted as if nothing happened. "Umm, Washio-sensei?" Crystal asked and moved over to her, grabbing her own towel. "Here, please, dry up and let me pass out the swimsuits. I can handle it."

Well....THAT was a new reaction. Ayame felt terrible. Normally Nori just laughed it off and acted like nothing happened. Unfortunately, she couldn't go after him to apologize. Crystal offered to take over handing out the swimsuits, and Ayame simply nodded.
"Perhaps it would be better if you did, Miss Emmerson."
Ayame took the offered towel and dried off as much as she could. Too bad she hadn't brought a change of clothes. She simply sat down and waited for Nori to come back. She could apologize, then, if he'd allow her to. Nori had been her best friend growing up...he and Ayako had really been her only friends until college. Even then, she treasured their friendship more than anything. With a sigh, she hung her head, staring at the floor.
You're such an idiot, Ame. she chastized herself.

"I'm sorry I'm late!"
Masaru's cry echoed across the gymnasium, something that made the man flinch when he realized it - he hadn't meant to be so loud! He panted at the doorway, leaning against the doorframe for support - his bad knee was twinging in pain, his glasses were askew and his hair was even more of a frizzy mess than usual, but he masked it all with an apologetic smile. "A student needed my help after Social Studies, I hadn't realized how late it had gotten!"
At least Ayame was here to cover for him. As he walked over, Masaru realized there was a strange tension in the air - and the man sputtered a little as he realized there was a rather damp Ayame sitting there, with Ché and Norimasa nowhere to be found. It wasn't like them to miss practice, and with Ayame's demeanor...
"Is everything all right?" he asked in general, though he focused on Ayame - she seemed to be the one who needed someone right now.

Nori sat huddled in one of the stalls, his knees pulled up to his chest, face buried into them. He couldn't stop shaking. It had never been this bad before. Usually he flinched when it happened, got as far away from Ayame as he could, laughing it off -- what else could he do? Whenever anyone asked him about it, he'd said it was nothing. Static shock. Leaning too far into the corner of her desk. Thinking he saw or heard something startling that hadn't been there at all. The trembling stayed on the inside of him, rattling his heart around.
He thought he could just tolerate this sort of thing. Ignore it. Ayame was his cousin, his formerly kind, older cousin who read to and played with him whenever he wanted. He hadn't been tolerant at all. He got too startled, in front of everyone, and now he was panicking over it.
Stupid. Stupid, stupid Nori.
His head shot up at the sound of Ché's voice, his heart clenching. He hadn't heard his kouhai calling out to him. Had he followed him here? Did he know? Of course. He surely knew. Still...
"I'm fine, Ché-kun!" He managed to force some cheer into his voice. "Don't worry about me, I'll be out soon!"

"Are you sure?" Ché fidgeted with his hands uncomfortably, sounding uncertain and looking down at his toes. He didn't know what to do, he wanted to help but... he knew he always felt better staying away from people. But he didn't know if Nori would feel the same way he usually did.
Plus he was worried about him too. His stomach was twisting into knots over fear of whatever Ayame might have done. Whatever it was it must have been bad or Nori wouldn't be so upset!
He took to leaning against the wall, still fidgeting with his hands for a moment before swallowing. He looked out of the door towards the pool to see a brunette rushing past and he nodded to himself, retreating back into the bathroom.
"I think Honda-Sensei's here now so... don't worry, okay?"

Crystal nodded and took the box, moving a bit further down the benches as she continued to pass the first years swimsuits. "Once everyone has one, the new team members are free to change into the team swimsuit using the changing rooms." She called out before seeing Honda-sensei and gave a sigh of relief. "Is that everyone?" She asked looking to the box and saw that it was indeed empty.
With that opening she walked over towards the teachers and lightly cleared her throat. "Washio-sensei? Honda-sensei? Once the new members gets changed, would you like me to start leading the simple practices?"

Honda-sensei was here? No... Nori didn't want to be seen like this. Ché was worried enough. Honda-sensei would react even worse. How could he keep from worrying? Honda-sensei had no clue what was going on. Had he noticed anything? It wasn't as if his presence warded Ayame from doing things like this before... but...
He couldn't hide in here forever.
He wanted to, at least until he was sure Ayame was gone, but that was unrealistic.
Nori tried to remember how to breathe, will his trembling away. It worked, little by little. He pushed the stall door open, seeing Ché was still there, and flashed him a papery smile.
"Let's go meet Honda-sensei."

Ayame looked up the moment Honda walked in. Great. That was the last thing she needed. She grabbed her phone and shot a quick text to Nori.
I'm sorry. I was just joking around. I wasn't expecting you to react like that. I owe you something sweet, if you'd like to stop somewhere after practice. I'll be waiting by my car.
She stood and forced a smile. "Everything's fine, Honda-san. I carried the box in, but I'm afraid something's come up. I need to get going." She waved and walked out of the room, rushing to her car where she would wait to see whether Nori took her up on her offer or never wanted to see her again. She sighed.
"You need to get over this habit, Ame," she chastized herself. "He's not a kid anymore...the joke has to stop." Could she really break herself of the habit? It had all started out as fun and games, but now she slipped into teasing him so easily.

...okay. He had definitely missed something. He frowned briefly as Ayame excused herself, watching as the woman left - he almost didn't hear Crystal speaking as a result, and it took the teacher a moment for her words to sink in.
"...ah? Oh! Yes, of course, Emmerson-san!"
Hm. No one had mentioned Ché or Norimasa skipping practice, so he had to assume they had excused themselves for the moment. The bathroom, maybe? Still, something didn't add up - Ayame's demeanor was still gnawing at him. She was definitely upset about something - she looked pretty sad, and to be so wet like that...
Masaru thought back to Norimasa and Ayame. They were cousins, that much he knew off the bat, but that wasn't all. Ayame had always been pretty friendly with him - but Norimasa had always given off a vibe of being...apprehensive? He'd tensed up when he thought no one would notice, always seemed to give himself and Ayame a bit of distance.
Was their relationship a strained one?
...had there been an argument?
No, that didn't seem right either. Norimasa wasn't the type to get angry like that. An accident, maybe - although Ayame's demeanor still didn't explain that. Maybe he was just embarrassed to be around someone who had a penchant for being embarrassing? That seemed to add up - comparing the two, it was clear Norimasa had more successes in his life than Ayame had.
Still...
"We'll start up once Hayashi-san and Washio-san get back, I suppose!"
He'd just have to ask about the incident later.

As soon as Nori reappeared from the stall he perked up, standing up straighter and smiling brightly, even if Nori didn't seem as enthusiastic.
"Okay!" Opening the door he stopped as Ayame all but barreled past him in an attempt to leave quickly. He didn't move for a minute, his mouth forming a small o shape as she dashed off. Well... strange but not a bad thing, now Senpai didn't have to worry so much, right?
Looking behind him at Nori, he grinned again before heading back towards the pool. Catching sight of Honda-Sensei up ahead he picked up the pace, arriving back and giving a lopsided sort of smile.
"We're here Sensei!" He cast a quick look of concern to Nori before waving it away and folding his arms, nodding to himself, "Sorry for the delay!"

Crystal watched as Washio-sensei left once Honda-sensei had arrived and questioned her. She couldn't help but sigh before Honda-sensei finally answered her. "Ah, yes. Of course!" She said putting a smile back on like normal. Things were so out of control and odd today in practice. What happened ate at her. Though when she heard Che's voice and saw Nori with him as well, she gave a relieved smile. "Welcome back you two! Is everything alright now?"

Nori pushed his smile a little wider. Even Crystal seemed worried!
"Yes! Sorry about that."
He turned to Masaru, his smile faltering for a split second. Hopefully Honda-sensei hadn't picked up on anything. If he had... he had to investigate it, wouldn't he? He was a teacher. Nori wasn't sure if he'd ever be able to talk about what was going on; the idea of it made his stomach squeeze tight, rumbling with the nausea that threatened him earlier. Still, he was glad Honda-sensei was here, and more glad that Ayame was gone. He just had to act as normal as possible.
"Sorry, Honda-sensei. We're ready to start practice."

Great, just great, she was late for practice. Eileen threw her uniform off in the changing rooms and got into her usual dark blue swimsuit. Taking her hair out of the half-ponytail, the redhead put her hair into a messy bun. Grabbing her orca-printed towel Eileen rushed out of the changing room in a pair of sandals, blue eyes wide in panic.
"I am so sorry I'm late...I'm never late, I'm sorry, I got caught up in studying and...just...I'm sorry, I'm so so so sorry.." Eileen said frantically, hoping the team didn't hate her for being this late. A slight blush appeared on her face as she spoke. She ducked her head, biting her lower lip. She fidgeted a little bit, looking nervous.
