On the plus side, class was out for the day!
But on the flip side, Flick didn't have club activities either.
The first year stretched a little as she made her way out of the high school building and onto the grounds. What to do from here, anyways? Most of her much richer classmates probably had super rich things to do - what were super rich things anyways, did her classmates train to become Batman in their spare time? - and Flick was reluctant to head back home just yet. Hm.
The day was nice, at any rate. The sky was a brilliant blue, and a cloud in the sky couldn't be seen for miles. (Kilometers? Was that the expression here? She'd have to look that up later.)
"Maybe I could do some sketching..." she said to herself. The birds around Ouran Academy were exotic as the school itself, and Flick remembered seeing a peacock at least once on the grounds. She supposed it didn't have to be birds though - a lot of the architecture around the school was lovely too! She nodded briefly to herself, mind made up. Yes, sketching was a good idea! She had snacks in her bag in case she got hungry too...
She made her way to one of the benches, picking one that was nice and shaded. Putting her things down, she made a grab for the sketchbook in her bag, as well as the rolled up bag of shrimp chips she'd started picking at around lunchtime. Sketching the first few lines was easy, as well as the basic shapes, but the more she worked at it, the more she was unsatisfied.
"No, that's not right..." she muttered, frowning. It needed something, definitely! She looked up, seeing someone in the distance, and absently started sketching their form.
It didn't occur to her she was being pretty obvious about it - or that some people might object to being drawn out of the blue.

For once, Ryan didn't have a club activity to go to. It wasn't so bad, then, that he forgot his violin. Unfortunately for him, Finn had rehearsal today, and although it would end eventually, Ryan didn't want to go all the way home and then come back just to meet up with him. He settled for just milling around campus. Maybe he could find somewhere comfortable to nap.
He had just started to doze off when he felt eyes locked on him. He braced himself, prepared for a taunt or - at worst - something thrown at him. That hadn't been fun. Instead, though, when he looked over at whoever it was, he saw them... drawing?
Who would draw him?
Ryan shifted awkwardly, then got up and walked over.
"Hi, um... sorry if this is super rude, but... um, are you drawing me?"

Sketching was a dangerous thing to do sometimes - it was painfully easy to get lost in it, and as such, she hadn't noticed immediately when Ryan came up to her and asked her a question. It was only when a shadow loomed over her sketchbook that she pulled out of her artistic trance, her memory helpfully supplying the question she hadn't initially responded to.
She readied an apology - and then she actually saw Ryan, causing the only thing to come out of her mouth to be a soft squeak of surprise.
Oh. Oh. They - they were gorgeous.
"A-ah - " she began, cheeks turning as pink as her hair, then stopped. No no, she had to use her words. "I'm sorry! I was trying to sketch the scenery and you just looked really nice as you were standing there so I just kinda started sketching you in automatically and oh gosh please don't be mad, I just started drawing unconsciously - " she babbled all at once before taking a breath, holding up her sketchbook helplessly. The scenery shot was pretty nice, if ill defined, and Ryan's figure had the most effort put into it, looking as if Flick had wanted to make sure she'd gotten Ryan right.
"I-I just wasn't thinking too hard! I kind of do that a lot, but I'm really sorry!"

The more Flick talked, the redder Ryan's face became. He covered his mouth, his eyes dragging downwards to look at the drawing. Nobody had ever drawn him before - he heard that he was pretty before, even beautiful (only one person had said that) but to be drawn? That had never happened!
He let his hands drop from his mouth, clasped together in front of his chest. "It's okay. I don't mind. Um... is it okay if I sit down?" He was tired already from his long day, and sitting down was the only thing he wanted to do right now. Preferably for a long time. His cheeks were finally starting to feel less warm, even if he was still amazed that someone had drawn him. Him! Skinny ol' Ryan with the freckles and 'creepy alien eyes'!
It was really going to inflate his ego.

Oh.
Oh gosh,
Ryan was even prettier blushing.
The realization she was staring again only made Flick blush even harder, and hurriedly she looked away, only offering a wordless nod in response to Ryan sitting down. At least they weren't angry. That was kind of a huge relief! She'd been worried Ryan was going to snap at her, or make fun of her, or get offended they hadn't been drawn right...
"Sorry!" it came out unbidden, and Flick hoped her freckled cheeks were moderately less pink than her hair right now. "I-I know you said it was okay, but I should have asked first! I-I mean, only creeps do stuff like that, right? A-and I'm definitely not a creep! Although jeez, I don't even know your name or anything, I guess that kind of makes me creepy, guh, I shouldn't do that around a stranger! Even a really pretty one!"
She realized about 5 seconds too late she'd blurted that last part out loud. The girl froze, torn between apologizing again and running and hiding, and settled for merely making a pathetic noise of defeat, covering her face with her hands. "...okay, so I guess that makes me sound really creepy."

Ryan sank down onto the ground across from Flick, not too close but not directly in the path of the sun either. It was too warm for that. He smiled at her, even as she fumbled through whatever she was trying to say - it was cute! Usually he was the one getting flustered and all weird! So this was a pleasant surprise.
Maybe all his high-confidence friends were rubbing off on him. They'd find that nice, right? He looked down at the ground modestly, feeling his cheeks becoming hot again.
"Thank you. Um... it's not weird, you're not a creep, so... don't worry." Ryan hoped that was enough for her to calm down. "Oh! And, um. My name's Ryan, by the way."

Oh sweet jesus on high, thank god Ryan changed topics. The pink haired girl gave her frazzled brain a moment to relax, and when she looked back over at them, it was a lot less nervous. Ryan was a person! There was no need to get so nervous around them - even if they were super gorgeous.
Right, right! She had to. Stop staring. Maybe she needed another moment. Maybe this school was a bad idea with its constant beautiful people all around.
She offered a grin. She could do this! She just needed to keep the conversation up.
"I'm Flick!"
Wait. That didn't make sense.
"U-um, Felicity, I mean. But no one calls me that 'cept my parents!" she laughed, posture becoming a little more at ease. "I'm a first year and a newbie here, it's so huge! I got lost sooo much my first week here. Kinda intimidating, yanno? 'specially with all the rich people around - I'm a scholarship student, so it's like stepping into a whole new world - " Flick paused for a moment, resisting the urge to start singing Disney, but started up again just as easily. " - but I think I'm starting to get used to it! Mostly, anyways."
Hm. Ryan looked the the same age, but... "I'm guessing you must be a second year? I haven't seen you around before!"

Ryan set his bag down next to him, taking his phone out of one of the side pockets. Ah, no new texts, but that must have meant things were going well! He also didn't want to just stare awkwardly at Flick, even if she seemed content doing just that. He glanced up at her, setting his phone on his thigh.
"Flick is cute! And yeah... I got hella lost my whole first semester here. I made my host sister draw me a map." He smiled, shrugging. He still sort of got lost from time to time, especially if he had to go to places in the school he had never gone to before. That was always an adventure. He stared down at his hand, absently picking at a hangnail. "I'm a second year, yeah. It's kind of still weird, but it's also a new, fantastic point of view." Of course he had caught the Disney reference! How could he not? "Are you in any clubs?"

Oho, so Ryan had caught that! The pleased look on Flick's face spoke loads. "This place IS a dazzling place I never knew, but it's pretty fun! You're so lucky to use maps though, I have to see places before I can remember them, so maps don't really help in my case..." she sighed and put her sketchbook aside, recalling the many wrong turns she had taken on the way to class. "At least the teacher is forgiving when you're new..."
The girl blinked at the question. "Just Film Club! I was thinking about joining Art Club but it kinda seems a little too high brow for someone like me. Maybe I could join Drama Club, but I wouldn't want to be part of the acting crew, that's not my thing..." she absently chewed on the inside of her cheek, thinking back to the list of clubs she'd seen when she enrolled. "Nothing else really caught my eye, though honestly I'd join Culinary Club just to eat a ton of yummy food. I guess you'd need to join a club for more than that though!" she cracked a grin.
"How 'bout you, senpai?" she was supposed to call Ryan senpai, right? That seemed like the proper etiquette, all things considered. "You look like someone who would be in a lot of clubs!"

"I can make you a map!" Ryan beamed, his face lighting up. "I'm not a very good artist but I could probably make it look okay." With that, the beam dropped. He turned his phone over a few times, listening more to Flick talk. He didn't mind! He preferred listening, anyway. Her discussion about the clubs was 100% accurate, though. There were so many, and he wanted to join them all but they were so intense! He didn't have time to join everything he wanted to do. What a shame.
He just hummed thoughtfully, a small smile crossing his face. "I like being called senpai. But I'm not Japanese, so you don't have to unless you want to. And, umm... I guess I'm in a lot of stuff," he mused, looking up towards the sky. "I'm in the orchestra and that keeps me really busy since we like, help out the drama club and stuff when they have shows. I play the violin... I'm decent. A few of my friends and I were thinking of starting a Korean Culture club, but I don't know if any of the non-Korean students here would join it..."

Finn hoped he wasn't too late. Idol Club rehearsals ran over, and then he'd wound up stopping to chat with Phantom. She was so eager for his opinion on one of her songs, and he couldn't just refuse her. Then again, Ryan was very patient, but not eternally! What if he'd decided to go ahead and leave without him? He'd be stranded on school grounds, alone and miserable and without his face masks! Primmy had just given him new ones made out of cotton, and -- Oh, there Ryan was!
With someone with bright pink hair, too! For a moment, Finn wondered if it was the costume girl from the Drama Club — he'd always intended to say 'hello' to her but hadn't the chance — but her hair wasn't nearly so long.
It must have been a new person, then. That was just fine with him; he liked new people!
"I'm here now!" Finn greeted once he was close enough, wandering around the side of Ryan until he was in his and the New Girl's sight. "Sorry! My little kouhai needed me." He let his gaze wander toward Flick, wide and curious. "Who is this?"

"Ahaha, I think I'll be okay. I've got my basic routes down, and it's pretty impossible for me to forget something!" Well, quite literally, in her case, but she wasn't about to start talking about that.
Flick paused briefly at Ryan's mention that they didn't have to be called senpai. "Weeellll, you're still my senpai though! Gotta treat your upperclassmen right!" she grinned, nodding briefly when Ryan said they were in orchestra - they looked like a music type of person! - and her gaze became curious when a Korean club came up. "I think it would be a good idea! No rule that says you can't make a different kind of culture club even though we're in Japan, right? I'd join, it'd be fun to learn something new!"
She jumped at the sound of a new voice - it wasn't someone she knew, which meant it had to be for Ryan. Fine by her, she liked meeting new people anyways! She readied to greet this new person with a bright smile -
- and then they came into view and Flick was caught unaware yet again.
Oh. Oh. They were gorgeous too. She was totally staring, immediately turning a vivid shade of pink.
"Um."
Come on, she knew how words worked.
"ImFlicknicetomeetyou!" it all came out in a single breath, and a barely decipherable mess. Flick let out a tiny noise of embarrassment, gaze darting between Finn's impossibly beautiful face and the ground.
Was it possible to melt into the floor?
Could she do that?
Because she wanted nothing more than for the ground to swallow her whole right now.

Ryan nodded, pausing for a moment. "Yeah, and Korean stuff is really popular here. I don't know what we're going to do besides--"
A loud voice cut him off before he could finish what he was saying. A voice he knew extremely well, in fact! Ryan couldn't help the smile spreading across his face, brighter even than the one before, as he turned around to confirm who it was coming up behind them.
Ah, he knew it!
It was his favourite person in the whole world! He braced his hand on the ground, lifting himself up, and reached for his bag. "Hi! How was rehearsal?" He took a step closer to Finn, still smiling at him. His day was now, like, five times better. At least.
"Oh! This is Flick, she's my new friend and cute little kouhai! Doesn't she have nice hair?" Ryan glanced at Flick, noticing how pink she was. Well, he couldn't say he blamed her! Finn was gorgeous, from his perfect face to his flawless hands and sparkling personality and he could talk about that accent for days.
He was getting disgustingly gushy.
"Flick, this is Finn! He's... we're friends." He nodded.

"It went well! I've almost got my parts perfect, and I talked quite a lot with Suzu about things."
Finn paused when Ryan introduced the new pink-haired girl to him. His mouth curled into an 'o' shape.
"Oh, yes! Hello, Flick~!" He grinned at her. Ryan seemed to be making more and more friends these days! Finn couldn't deny that he was happy for Ryan. He'd been so timid when they first met.
Finn also didn't blame Flick for turning to goo around him. He'd very well noticed it, not that it was hard. Her face was almost as pink as her hair now! He barely made out what she said.
He turned his grin on Ryan. "Well, Ryan, now we've both got adorable kouhai!" He turned his attention back to Flick. "So, Flick, tell me about yourself! I've never seen you before. Are you in..." If she was Ryan's kouhai, it was worth a guess. "Orchestra?"

"Cute."
"Adorable."
Ohhh god, she was going to die. This was how her life was going to end - blushing to death because two impossibly beautiful people were complimenting her. At least she'd be surrounded by lovely people before biting it.
...well okay. That was an exaggeration. But it really did feel that way! Flick took a moment to try and will the deep red of her cheeks away, rather timidly looking up at Finn.
"Um."
Goddamnit, self, you know how words work!
"I-I'm o-only in Film Club, hahaha!" she laughed. "B-but I like drawing a-and I was sketching and u-um, I kinda drew Ryan-senpai without m-meaning to?" she shakily held up her sketchbook. "A-and we just kind of started talking and Ryan-senpai is a second year s-so that makes them my senpai and...yeah..."
Flick trailed off a little pathetically, offering a sheepish smile.
