[Saturday, July 4th: 1 PM]
Crystal hummed a bit as she was behind the counters of the family bakery. She was helping restock cupcakes in the front of the store since she was admittedly a little bored. To her knowledge, no one was available today to hang out. So, to pass the time, she often helped her grandmother with the bakery. Crystal chuckled lightly to herself; she loved to do this. Work when she was free? And she enjoyed it!
Well, of course she did! She got to eat free sweets!

From the moment Finn woke up, he found himself craving sugar. Unfortunately, his dad was boring and stuffy and cared too much for boring, stuffy things like cavity prevention. But he knew plenty of people who'd help him cheat a little! Ryan and Primmy were both busy, but Crystal's shop was always open. And discounted! And, since it was the beginning of the month, he had quite a lot of money to spend!!
How couldn't he keep from wandering over?
Finn swung the door wide, beaming. "Hello, Crystal! I've come for pastries!" He shuffled in, attention swinging toward the display. Rows and rows of pastel-topped cupcakes lined the case, fresh and already inviting him in their tiny, whispery voices. "What have you got today?"

Crystal heard the little bell jingle as she looked up from the glass cupboard and smiled at the familiar voice.
"Hi, Gene!" She said brightly and chuckled. "Well, we do have your favorites today. My Grandma just made a fresh batch."
She waved to the tray that she had moments before he walked in placed into the cupboard and grinned. "I even asked her to make some extras as I wanted to give them to you at school. Though it seems that I don't have to do that any longer." Crystal moved away from the cupboard after closing it up, removing the gloves she wore and tossed them out. She picked up a small box that looked to hold about four cupcakes with a seal on it.
Coming out from around the counter, Crystal was wearing one of the bakery uniforms. A black skirt, black leggings that had pink rose petals on them and a pink collared polo shirt. "Here you go, Gene."

All Erik had wanted today was a nice, calm day to read. Everyone else was rather busy apparently and there wasn't much to do on such a lazy Saturday alone. So, he'd gotten cozied up on the couch, tea hot and ready, animals taken care of... Then Arthur had to come down with some older guy, stealing the living room away. Now Erik found himself searching the town for things to do.
Oh, but reading was still on his agenda, of course. He was carrying a book with him as he walked down the sidewalk, eyes passing over every sign with disinterest. The bakery, however, stuck out to him. The name seemed familiar, but he couldn't remember that well? Didn't Ryan or Scarlett know someone who worked there?
It looked slow, and therefore quiet, with very few customers inside. A nice place to read and get some tea or coffee. The door made a soft jingliing as he opened it and got a good look around. Very... pink.
Then he noticed a far too familiar face. Oh, no... Finn.
Not to say he didn't like Finn. They were sort of friends! But the guy was the farthest thing from 'quiet' or 'calm'. Plus there was some girl here who looked just as pink as the rest of the place; Obviously working. She seemed pleasant enough. Looking up to eye the glass cases, Erik nodded a greeting to Finn. "Hey. Nice day today..." Seemed all the forces of the universe were forcing Erik to be sociable today.

"Ooooh~!"
Finn prepared his fingers with little wriggles before accepting the box. Crystal was so considerate and thoughtful and wonderful! Probably the best friend he'd ever had! She'd put together an entire box of cupcakes - just for him! Well… He might have been willing to share one with Ryan… but Ryan would have understood if Finn couldn't help himself! These were free cupcakes!! Crystal deserved the world and a half for this!
"Thank you so much, Cry --"
The door jangled.
Finn turned, curiosity getting the better of him as his hands moved effortlessly to flip open the box. Oh. Oh! It was Erik!! Finn's smile stretched even wider, his eyes gleaming.
"Erik! I didn't expect to see you today!" This was such a good day, he got to be around some of his favourite people! He looked over at Crystal. "Have you met Erik, Crystal? I'm sure you'd like him! He's prickly, but he's good." He turned back to Erik with a grin. "Aren't you? My perfect buttered croissant~."

Crystal smiled as Gene took the box of cupcakes happily. She was about to reply to him before the jangle was heard from the door, she turned her attention to the front door, immediately smiling and nodding her head in greetings to the other male. "Welcome to the Petal Bakery! Can I help you with something to eat or drink?" She asked.
Crystal blinked though when Gene started to talk to the guy calling him 'Erik'. Crystal smiled and shook her head. "I don't think we've met, Gene. It's nice to meet you, Erik." She chimed lightly but certainly loud enough for him to hear. When Gene was getting close to Erik and calling him odd names, a look of pity and embarrassment came across her cheeks as they turned a light pink.
"Gene...you're doing your...embarrassing thing again." She commented.

Despite Crystal greeting him first, Erik waited for what he knew was coming. He approached the counter next to Finn, a concerned look etching onto his face as he saw the huge box of cupcakes. He knew for a fact that Hiroshi would not approve (and neither would Erik's own father if he saw that sugar fest), but was probably blissfully unaware of Finn's cavity binging.
Just as expected, Finn greeted him like a small puppy. It was kind of endearing; Erik liked puppies and anyone resembling adorable animals. "Arthur kicked me out of the house." Not entirely true, but marathoning 'Game of Thrones' with his brother and said brother's boyfriend was not exactly his plans for the day.
However, he stiffened a bit when he was described as 'prickly', though he had no way to disagree with that statement, and it was only when the embarrassing food-based pet names came in that he felt his ears growing hot. "Uh..." Any bit of coolor aloof air to him was lost when he found himself both flustered but resigning to the ridiculous petname.
Erik couldn't find a way to answer Finn without embarrassing himself more or being rude to him, and neither was something he wanted. So he stayed quiet and looked towards Crystal instead. Was this the Crystal he'd heard of before? "Finn is always like that. I'm... used to it." He admitted, glancing to his friend to give him an almost accepting look. Erik wasn't good with new people so he just nodded to the girl, still recovering from Finn's introductions. "It's, uh, nice to meet you. So you know Finn?" Was what he managed, hoping that was alright. He scanned the list of teas carefully.

Finn turned to Crystal, smiling serenely.
"What embarrassing thing?" He hadn't the foggiest clue what Crystal was talking about. Erik loved him! Finn tried to prove it by sidling up to Erik as he looked over the tea menu, beaming at him. "Of course she knows me. We're old friends!"
Finn paused to munch on a cupcake - chocolate. His favourite! He raised the box to Erik. "Cupcake?" No. Wait. "Can you have cupcakes, Erik? I don't know if these are vegan enough for you. I don't want you getting your card taken away!" Erik would die of shame, probably - that is, if he didn't die of disgust first. Erik didn't seem to have much of a sweet tooth in the first place, but Finn wanted to be nice.

Crystal couldn't help but feel bad for Erik. She knew that Gene was a little....oblivious in how some people felt when he acted this way. Though, that was also something that could make a lot of people like him. It was a hit or miss with Gene.
"Yeah, Gene and I used to go to school together in London. He used to help me out a lot when I had a lot of bullies on me." She said and saw him scanning the teas before moving behind the counter. "Whenever you know what you'd like, I can help you. This is my family's bakery so I know how to make everything here."

A brief glance was given to Finn when he moved closer and Erik let himself peek at the box. "Well, they do make vegan cupcakes," He said in an attempt to educate him, but he was pretty certain these were normal. Tempting, but no. "Thanks but no, Finn." Raising his brows at the Finn and letting a small, sincere smile slip past.
"That's not how it... works... Finn." That was a lost cause and Erik let the sentence die off as into a murmur before he shook his head. Clearly, Finn had been watching too many movies lately. Erik knew what the reference was but it seemed Finn was taking it a bit seriously. "Don't worry. My card will not be taken away." He played along, reassuring him.
Finally his gaze went to the menu again and after a few moments he picked a nice rosehip tea. "Can I just get a cup of tea for now?" He asked Crystal, pointing out the one he wanted. He was still getting used to all the Japanese. As he waited he continued the conversation. "I'm from London, too. That's where I know this one from." Erik gestured at Finn who seemed busier eating cupcakes then talking. "Our dad's are in the same line of work."

Finn tore off another huge chunk of cupcake, watching Erik fumble to answer him. Didn't Erik realise he was joking?
"Oh! Well, good, then," he swallowed, winking. "Can't let all that dedication of yours go to waste!"
He finished off his cupcake while Crystal and Erik chatted, wandered off for a moment to scope out the bin. He couldn't just leave the wrapper abandoned for Crystal to clean up. She'd gone to enough trouble getting these cupcakes for him in the first place! He came back just as Erik finished explaining how they knew each other.
"That's right. We're like blood brothers!" Hm. No, that didn't sound quite right. He looked at Erik. "Or maybe we're more like Listerine brothers."

Crystal was a little surprised that Gene acted like this with Erik. It was pretty clear, at least to her, that Erik didn't seem to like it. She smiled though and nodded to Erik. "Tea, I can do. So rosehip tea for you?"
She headed behind the counter, heading to the drink counter and got a cup out as she prepared everything she could while waiting for an answer. She turned to Gene though and smiled at him. "Thanks for cleaning up by the way, Gene. But that's neat that your dads are in the same line of work."

Erik sent a sideways glance at Finn, his eyebrow lifting up in a mixture of amusement and bewilderment. "Yes, they're dentists. Which is why Huckleberry here is cheating with those cupcakes." He pointed a finger at them, giving Finn a look with incriminating raised eyebrows. With a final defining accusation he tapped the top of the box before fishing his wallet out.
"Yes, please." Finally addressing Crystal again, he handed over the yen. "No milk, no cream, none of that." His fingers brushed along the outside of his book, the texture of the pages' edges rough and uneven. "So you go to Ouran, too, right?" Erik asked out of curiosity. This was definitely the Crystal he'd heard mentioned before.
