OoC: As stated in the title, this thread is a flashback. It takes place specifically during Finn and Ryan's first year at Ouran. ♥
The moment classes let out, Finn pushed from his desk, eying Ryan and beaming. His heart fluttered almost uncontrollably, but he didn't mind it. It always did that when he was around Ryan, had done that for quite a while now. Time (and the fact they sat so close to each other!) made him grow used to it. Finn wasted no time in maneuvering to Ryan's desk, weaving around his classmates as they filed out. "Hello there, Ryan~!" Finn leaned against Ryan's desk, arms folded as coolly as possible. "Are you... busy, by any chance?" He waggled his eyebrows. He hoped Ryan wasn't busy! If Finn could, he hoped to spend some time with Ryan. They hadn't in a while; it was very tragic! |

Ryan was in the middle of typing out a message to Ageha on CUBE when Finn popped over to him. He glanced up, the blush already creeping across his face. "Um, no, I'm free as an eagle," he replied. Did Finn really have to stand right there with his arms like that? He looked so cool!
He wasn't busy now, of course! Ageha could wait. He erased the message he'd already half-composed and typed 'no sorry I have plans sorry unnie!!!!!!!!!' and tucked his phone into his bag. Oh gosh, Finn looked so cute today! It was illegal to be so handsome, he was pretty sure. Ryan stood up, standing on the opposite side of his desk. He pushed his chair back under the desk. "Why?"

Finn suppressed an overjoyed giggle that bubbled up in his throat. No, he couldn't do that! He had to look cool! Debonair! He maintained an easy smile instead, glancing at Ryan.
"I've been hoping we could hang out," he admitted. "Since you're free, and I'm certainly free, what would you like to do?" He felt quite a lot like eating -- not that he usually didn't -- but he wanted to let Ryan decide! He liked doing things with Ryan, no matter what it was.

Ryan immediately drew a blank on anything that was fun or even available to do. He sort of froze, blinking at Finn for a long moment, until he finally regained his bearings.
This was starting to sound suspiciously like something he was very not used to.
"Um... well, I'm sort of tired today so I don't want to do anything too intense... we could go to Ueno Park! It's really pretty and not too far from here." He'd been there a few times with Ageha already, mostly just wandering around, but it was nice! Well... Ryan liked it, at least.

Finn's lips pulled into an 'o' shape.
"Ooh~ Ueno Park~!" It sounded familiar. He may have been there once with Millie - but he'd never been with Ryan. He beamed. "Well, alright! Sounds fun!" Who knew what they could wind up doing there? Finn shifted his footing. "Can we get a nibble or three while we're there? I'm a bit starved."
His smile turned the slightest bit sheepish.

Ryan couldn't hide the smile spreading across his face. "Yeah, of course we can! We could probably even get four nibbles." Poor Finn! He was always starving, even after Ryan gave him half of whatever he was eating.
He held his bag a little bit closer. "So. Um. Let's go, then? Maybe?" No, definitely!

"Four nibbles?!"
The words flew out before Finn could stop them, his voice pitching high. Oh, that wasn't top at all! His mouth snapped shut, his expression vaguely wary. He didn't want to speak until he was sure he could control his voice. He moved to grab his own things, turning back to Ryan with more confidence.
"Yes, please! Let's go!" He smiled.

Instead of immediately and harshly judging Finn and deeming him uncool, Ryan laughed instead, immediately covering his mouth with his free hand - a habit he'd picked up from the girls he tended to hang out with. Finn's excitement was so... cute! He loved it.
"Yeah, let's go get those four nibbles!" He smiled at Finn, nudging their arms together for a moment. "Have you been to Ueno Park?" He asked as they left the classroom, making their way through the halls. "It's really nice. And ginormous. I went there with Ageha once." She hadn't been crazy about it, seeing it was Outside and all, but he liked it!

Finn couldn't help but admire Ryan as he laughed, his smile broadening. He was very glad he could do that, at least - make Ryan happy. He was adorable when he laughed; it lit up his face all the more.
He resisted the urge to grab Ryan's hand as they trailed down the hall together, distracting himself with Ryan's question instead. Um… "Yes! I think," he admitted. "That's the place with the Ueno Zoo, isn't it? Once Millie and I went there together."
He couldn't imagine Ageha going there, though. She never seemed to step outside for even a few seconds without a parasol or a hat - or both, with huge insectoid glasses perched on her nose like an oldtimey actress. Finn imagined Ryan had to bribe her into it, pay her in expensive lipsticks.
"Where did the two of you visit?"

Ryan hummed thoughtfully, trying to remember where exactly they'd gone. Ageha hadn't been too fond of the place, so they hadn't really done too much. "We went to the hanami spot and one of the temples." It'd been cherry blossom season, so Ageha insisted they go. Ryan was allergic to everything.
"Is the zoo nice? I want to take Emmy there when my family visits me!" He beamed at Finn. "They're coming in a few weeks." He was ridiculously excited!

Finn nodded.
"I enjoyed it more than Millie, I think. There weren't any bugs for her to look at." He remembered her being rather pouty over it - at least until they got ice cream and went to see the deer --
… oh!
"How about we go there? To…" Oh, he had to make this sound convincing. "Give it a test run of sorts! It'd be a lot easier to take Emmy with you then. They've got a petting zoo and quite a lot of deer~."

"Oh, there's deer there!?" Ryan's eyes widened. He loved deer! Oh, he just had to go now. And with Finn? That'd be even better! He adored deer and, well, he liked Finn too, really. "Yeah, let's go! I can't say Emmy or I would be really fond of it if there were bugs, though..." He didn't quite get Millie's affection for insects.
Was this kind of thing silly to go to? If it was, he didn't really care. Finn was fun and he always found the best things to do, so Ryan trusted his opinion.

Finn sent Ryan a grin, first a nodding one, then one a bit more sheepish. "I was a bit glad there weren't any bugs myself." He liked them, he'd admit, but only from a distance. Far away.
Finn and Ryan headed out of the school, into the sunlight and bright scenery of Ouran's courtyard. Finn peered toward the gate, his smile thinning the slightest bit. He turned toward Ryan, helpless. "Do you know how to get to Ueno Park from here? I don't have a clue!" The last time he'd gone, it'd been from his own house. They had their phones to rely on, of course, but it couldn't hurt to ask Ryan if he knew the way first!

Ryan's smile faltered, replaced with a look of sudden doubt.
"Uh..." Well, he'd only been to Ueno from Meguro. He pulled out his phone, choosing not to read the new message from Ageha (he was frightened) and pulled up Maps. "We have to go to Kasuga Station. And then it's just Kasuga to Ueno-Hirokoji... and then walking. I think I know where Kasuga Station is."
This seemed like such a bad idea. He wasn't good with directions! Hopefully Finn was better than he was.

Finn glanced down at Ryan's phone. It looked… toppity-tippers… but he didn't want to admit that to Ryan. How could he? Ryan would think he was silly, or stupid, or - even worse - uncool!
"I know how to get there!" His smile thinned a little more. He hadn't a single clue how to get there. He was a liar. A fake. He didn't want to lie to Ryan either! "Um… as long as the voice bit is turned on."
